Trays with Vinyl for Mother's Day

I used my Silhouette to add vinyl to some fun trays for Mother's Day!  They made a perfect gift when paired with a cute hand towel and cups!  See details below each picture.  Happy Mother's Day!

Mod Podge Flower Pots

I saw this idea on Pinterest, originally from A Boy. His Sister.  I adapted and expanded on this idea to create these flower pots for the Grandmoms for Mother's Day presents and for the teachers for Teacher Appreciation/birthday presents.  They turned out super cute!  (of course, they are even cuter when you can see the adorable smiling children on there but have to protect them!)

Materials:

• Pictures
• 3 6" pots & saucers (for 10 pictures)
• 1 8" pot & saucer (for 20 pictures)
• Clear satin polyurethane
• Black acrylic paint
• Double sided tape (or photo squares)
• Mod Podge
• Ribbon
• Clear tacky glue
• Dirt & flowers

Directions:

1. For the pictures, I cropped them, turned them black & white, & added a photo edge.  Then, I used the Turbo Collage app on my iPhone to combine 4 pictures into 1 picture.  I printed each 4 picture collage as a 4x6 and cut them apart. 
2. For the pots & saucers, I did 1 coat clear satin polyurethane to seal.  Let dry.  (also, thanks to Google, I found out you can wash your hands with olive oil & salt then dawn liquid soap to remove from hands).

3. Next, paint 2 coats of black acrylic paint.  Let dry between coats.

4. Arrange pictures with double sided tape to get the best spacing on your pots.

5. Mod podge the pot & the back of picture to glue pictures down.  Place a rubber band around to hold in place & let dry.

6. Mod podge on top of pictures.  Let dry completely.

7. Then, do 1 more coat clear satin polyurethane to seal.

8. Now, you are ready to tie on your ribbon.  Secure in a few places with clear tacky glue if needed.


9. Lastly, plant a beautiful flower or plant!  I found these miniature roses at Publix.  You're done!  These really are not hard - just time consuming waiting on everything to dry!  So far, the teachers have loved them & I hope the Grandmoms will too!
