Halloween Ideas

These are some Halloween ideas from prior years.

Food: Rice Krispy Pumpkins
Use the rice krispy recipe on the Rice Krispy box.  Add red & yellow food coloring to mix.  Spread 1/2 inch thick onto wax paper.  Cut into shapes with cookie cutter.  Let set and decorate with black icing.  I took the leftovers and rolled them into balls to resemble pumpkins.  I added green Mike and Ike candies to the top for stems.

Pig in a Blanket Mummies (adapted from grouprecipes.com)
     32 small smoked sausages
     8 ounce crescent rolls
Unroll dough, creating 4 rectangles.  Cut each rectangle into 8 thin strips.  Wrap 1 strip around each sausage, stretching dough slightly to look like bandages and leaving the face open.  Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake according to crescent roll instructions.  Serve with ketchup and mustard.  (Can make mustard spider web in bowl of ketchup by making mustard circles and pulling a toothpick through from the center).

Pumpkin Shaped Cheese Ball (adapted from Southern Living)
16 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
     8 ounces cream cheese, softened
8 ounces chive & onion cream cheese, softened
     2 teaspoons paprika
     1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
     Celery for garnish
Combine all cheeses, paprika, and red pepper.  Divide cheese mixture in half to make 2 cheese balls.  Wrap each cheese ball in plastic wrap and mold into pumpkin shape.  Make pumpkin indentations with your finger.  Let chill 4 hours or until firm.  Shape as needed in plastic wrap.  Put on serving dish and insert celery stalk and leaf into top.  Serve with crackers.  (if not for Halloween, shape into 2 balls and roll in pecans).

Halloween Cupcakes

Witch Hat Cookies
     Fudge striped cookies
     Orange Icing
     Hershey Kisses
Turn cookies upside down on wax paper.  Squeeze orange icing into middle.  Put a hershey kiss on the top.  So easy for even little kids!

Games: wrap the kids in toilet paper to look like mummies

Gifts/Favors: Spider rings.  Ghost lollipops (Wrap tootsie pops in paper towel.  Tie with black curly ribbon.  Draw on ghost eyes/mouth with black marker).
